Inside EQT’s 375 Million Square Foot Real Estate Empire

August 21, 2024, 10:07

EQT gets around. Seriously: the private equity company owns over 375 million square feet of real estate all around the globe.

That means EQT Exeter Funds own one of the world’s most expansive real estate portfolios, filled with over 1,800 buildings spanning from residential homes to warehouses to offices.

Now, that 375 million figure isn’t exactly easy to visualize. When you’re looking at houses to buy, you might get an idea of their size by multiplying your current living room in your head. Unless you’re living in the world’s biggest apartment complex, that won’t work here.

Add all of that square footage together, and you get an area bigger than Manhattan Island, New York, San Francisco, or Monaco.

In fact, EQT’s portfolio could cover Monaco around 16 times over.

You could line it up, instead, as if you were creating a bridge into outer space. The distance is enough to circle the Earth nearly three times or, more realistically, to travel between London and Athens around 44 times.

Actually, that bridge idea might hold water: the combined 66,288-mile stretch would make up just over a quarter of the distance to the moon.

Now that we have an idea of their combined scale, let’s take a look at EQT’s biggest industrial properties from all around the world.
